[epicproviders] Cytology Specimen Labels

[Epic - All Provider Staff]

Effective June 1, 2021:  Hospital Initiated Orders for Cytology GYN [LABAP2713], Cytology Non-GYN [LABAP2714] and Fine Needle Aspirate (FNA) [LABAP2712] orders will now produce a specimen label for collection.

  *   Upon release from Epic for Ambulatory specimens, the collection label will print to the designated printer in clinic or providers' office.
  *   For Inpatient and Emergency Room locations, nursing will be guided to Collection Manger to complete the collection process.

Labels are NOT specific to each specimen site. Because multiple specimens can be submitted on the same patient, please continue to handwrite the specimen site and laterality on the label. If more than one specimen is submitted on the same patient, please make sure they are each placed in their own biohazard bag with the appropriate printed EPIC requisition.

If a Sunquest Label device printer is needed please place a heat ticket. The heat ticket should document how many devices are need and the location of the office requesting the printer.
