[epicproviders] Epigram – Beaker Lab Implementation – UPDATE

To all Epic users:
The initial phase of the Epic Beaker implementation has gone extremely well thanks to the diligent preparation and effort of the IMT Beaker team. Most issues encountered thus far have been rapidly corrected. For those of you who were impacted by any issues, we thank you for your understanding and patience.
Related to our last Epigram, we have confirmed that only a small number of preference list orders will need modification. However, based on our testing, we wish to share two caveats and one potential additional step when placing an order and updating a preference list item.
The two caveats are (1) if you utilize the “Follow User” functionality, only the owner of that preference list can modify the item and (2) if the item is part of a panel, the original panel must be updated through the ‘Edit My Prefs List’ activity. The one potential additional step is that when you modify a preference list item with this workflow, in addition to adding any missing order details, you MAY also need to reselect the ‘Expires’ date field, if empty.
Informatics Tip (Updated):
Correcting an error and updating your preference list item at the time of ordering:
1) If the order entry box pops up with a highlighted error, note the missing piece of information (typically the ‘Specimen Source’) and click ‘Cancel’. (This will NOT delete the order.)

2) RIGHT-click the ‘Favorite’ star and select ‘Edit preference list entry’

3) Reselect the ‘Expires’ date (if empty), update the other missing information, and click ‘Accept’. (Note: You will NOT see warning exclamation points for any missing information.)

4) In the ‘Replace Order’ dialog box that appears, select ‘Yes’

Your order is now entered, and your Preference List entry is updated. You should not encounter the same error again for this order.
