Dear Third-Year Students,

You've been getting settled into 3rd year for a couple of months now and may be feeling some overwhelm or stress even if things are going well. Please remember that you are encouraged to reach out for help if you find yourself struggling.
There are several ways you can do this:

  1. All students can schedule a consultation with the Student Counseling Service<https://www.upstate.edu/currentstudents/support/scc/index.php > by calling 315-464-3120. Binghamton students may attend these appointments virtually if you prefer not to come to Syracuse. SCS provides ongoing counseling, therapy, and, if needed, medication consultation/management. There are no session limits and your services are free and confidential.
  2.
All third-year students may access free, confidential televideo counseling/therapy services through Upstate’s partnership with BetterMynd<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.bettermynd.com/__;!!GobTDDpD7A!PmBcOVwLUJzTtsk2OH549e399XoOnUtmNfvGtyTkISercYkmeBP5BbPbsYr6YkIdRJhmzSdbGSyiVGg3lpJrtoIq0lyYzw$ >. If you’re interested in services, register here<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://login.bettermynd.com/realms/BetterMynd/protocol/openid-connect/registrations?client_id=bettermynd-web&response_type=code&scope=openid*20email&redirect_uri=https:**Aapp.bettermynd.com*__;JS8vLw!!GobTDDpD7A!PmBcOVwLUJzTtsk2OH549e399XoOnUtmNfvGtyTkISercYkmeBP5BbPbsYr6YkIdRJhmzSdbGSyiVGg3lpJrtoJfZJ3-9Q$ > with your upstate.edu email address. It only takes a few minutes to get started! Students can search for therapists based on clinical specialty, demographics, and state of licensure (a good option for students rotating or studying outside of NYS). For more details on how to register, visit this link for a quick tutorial<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/vimeo.com/954490031?share&utm_campaign=Partner*20Communications&utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--ebmnRfZ9dF_91v99PsQwnk8fm4W8UbRjIbCYThhZlwVzsTqR3C8xRaXjQi515-PvXIGvl__;JQ!!GobTDDpD7A!NHMNK6h9rs6E3wDuvRwxXcRBQ_gK7bEcTiKtJMszWM71sc9oNZ4-IcOCQv9ahZifni2Lvb1-xbnRRuVkRvBj54Z3fhXNjA$> or reach out to us at scs at upstate.edu<mailto:scs at upstate.edu> for more information. Students are initially allocated 8 sessions each, but can request more if desired.
  3.
Binghamton Campus students may access in-person, local mental health services through our agreement with Binghamton University’s Student Counseling Service<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.binghamton.edu/counseling/__;!!GobTDDpD7A!PmBcOVwLUJzTtsk2OH549e399XoOnUtmNfvGtyTkISercYkmeBP5BbPbsYr6YkIdRJhmzSdbGSyiVGg3lpJrtoL3E4J4-g$ >. Services there are free and confidential. Please identify yourself as an Upstate medical student when you call (607-777-2772).
  4. Students in crisis should call 988 for immediate support or call 844-287-6963 to access BetterMynd’s 24/7 crisis support line. These services are free and confidential.

Wishing you all the best!
